"Vista de Flores" Original Hand Painted Glass Enamel
This original hand painted glass enamel painting measures 8x8 inches framed. The glass painting itself measures 5x5 inches.
Born and raised in the beautiful state of Michigan, I have always gravitated to the splendor of the Great Lakes. This background is the influence for this painting.
Glass enamel painting is a process of firing powdered glass to another substrate at extremely high temperatures. This painting involved mixing various compositions of glass powder with a specialized medium to create wet glass enamel. The painting was then executed on a base of clear glass. Upon completion of the painting, the piece was fired in a kiln to a temperature of approximately 1400 degrees Fahrenheit for 12-15 hours. The way that the glass is fired dramatically impacts the outcome of the texture and color of the painting. Glass enamels vary greatly in opacity, translucency, and transparency. In addition to the skill of painting with the glass enamels, great consideration of the many variables involved is required to ensure the best outcome for the painting.
